Presenting our 2014 jury: Marilyn Rowe OBE

Marilyn Rowe OBE, member of the 2014 jury

Marilyn Rowe was born in Sydney, Australia and became a principal artist with The Australian Ballet in 1969 after training at The Australian Ballet School.

After a career, where in 1973, she won a silver medal at the Second International Ballet Competition in Moscow, and, in 1980, received the Order of the British Empire, she danced all of the major roles in the company’s repertoire and had several works created for her by leading international choreographers. She was appointed Ballet Director, Deputy Artistic Director and in 1984 Director of The Australian Ballet’s Dancer’s Company. She was a member of The Australian Ballet’s Board from 1994 to 2009.

Marilyn was appointed Director of The Australian Ballet School in 1999.

Marilyn Rowe est née à Sydney, en Australie et a été promue Etoile du Ballet d’Australie en 1969 après une formation à l’Ecole de Ballet d’Australie.

En 1973, elle a remporté une médaille d’argent lors du deuxième Concours international de ballet de Moscou et, en 1980, a reçu l’Ordre de l’Empire britannique. Pendant sa carrière, Marilyn Rowe a dansé tous les grands rôles du répertoire du Ballet d’Australie, et les plus grands chorégraphes internationaux ont créé plusieurs rôles pour elle. Elle a été nommée directrice de ballet, directrice artistique adjointe et, en 1984, directrice de l’Australian Ballet’s Dancer’s Company. Elle a été membre du conseil d’administration du Ballet d’Australie de 1994 à 2009.

Marilyn Rowe a été nommée directrice de l’Ecole de Ballet d’Australie en 1999.
